One of the primary tasks of the Los Angeles County Regional Broadband Consortia (LACRBC) is to develop and maintain projects centered on broadband deployment, access and adoption.  The LACRBC is engaged in the advocacy of affordable Internet access, low-cost computers and digital inclusion.  The consortia is also tasked with engaging stakeholders, community leaders and the community in the importance of digital literacy and inclusion.

Broadband ConnectivityThe California Public Utilities Commission/CASF Consortia Fund provided grants to Regional Consortia addressing regional technology/broadband priorities throughout California with the primary purpose of facilitating the most cost-effective use of CASF funds for infrastructure deployment.   This information was shared with civic leaders and “anchor institutions” such as schools, colleges, libraries, clinics, hospitals, work source centers, community based organizations, and small businesses in each sub-region.
Fourteen regional consortia were funded for a three year period effective January 2012.

The LACRBC is open to include other organizations in accordance with California Public Utilities Commission's ruling.
